We welcome you to spend as much or as little time with us during Holy Week and Easter as you wish. Come for a day, stay for a night or two or come for the whole week
Time to step back to reflect on the meaning of Jesus’ last days, death and resurrection is also an invitation to give our spirits a spring clean.
We invite you to join us in giving God the space to open us to new ways of praying, listening, understanding, seeing, sensing. We will let poetry speak to our deepening sense of Jesus’ journey and cast light on our own.
Special Holy Week events include:
Maundy Thursday– Sharing of the Passover meal (Seder) In the Jewish tradition
Good Friday - Silence, and Passion Music in the Chapel
Easter Saturday – Night Vigil in the Carpenters Chapel
Easter Sunday – Sunrise service in the river
Stations of the Cross artworks made by various artists in some way connected to the Bield or those that work here will be on display in the Barn Gallery.
The daily rhythm will include morning and evening prayer, and a daily meditation sharing ways of praying together. (Lectio Divina, Gospel Meditation, Praying with an Icon, Body Prayer).
Every morning there will be a Poem for the Day. A member of our Pastoral team will share a favourite Easter poem with us and talk about its meaning for them, invite us into silent reflection and a time of sharing how it affects us
There will also be guided explorations of the Stations of the Cross which can open us up to meeting with God in new ways
You may choose to be in silence. You may want somebody to accompany you during your retreat or for a one-off conversation. You can decide what the right pattern is for you.
