Images of God
3rd April 2024
The Bible speaks of God with a wonderful diversity of images but, for many of us, our vocabulary is quite limited. Having a deep well of images to draw upon matters because it helps open our awareness to ways in which God might be speaking to us; deepens how we can come into relationship with God; and helps us avoid limiting God to our cultural assumptions which might exclude others.
Why not join us for the day as we begin to experience the joy that comes from opening to the diverse ways God seeks to come into relationship with us?
“God is a giant red heart with a million little hearts floating out.”
Child, Drawing God project
God is ultimately mystery and beyond our imagining, but embracing the rich diversity of images in Scripture offers us a fuller picture of the Divine.
“As an eagle stirs up its nest,
and hovers over its young…”
What to Expect
This day retreat will invite you to reflect on your own image(s) for God. We will also consider more expansive imagery for God. and reflect on what difference it makes for our own spiritual life, for the conversations we have with others about God, and for the language we use in worship and prayer.
There will be opportunities for guided meditation, personal reflection, creative expression, and group discussion. Why not join us for the day as we begin to experience the joy that comes from
opening to the diverse ways God seeks to come into relationship with us?
