Walking on the Edge

Walking on the Edge

12th - 15th August

10:00 on Tue to 16:00 on Fri

£430 Residental

Who is this for?

A retreat for those who feel they are walking on an edge that may feel precarious and full of questions. The edge may take different forms: we are all trying to chart a spiritual course through current times of global turmoil and transition, and many people today are also questioning institutional religious doctrine and practice.

What will we explore?

We are all looking for solid ground in a global situation that feels like shifting sands. We may also be seeking the solid rock underpinning our spiritual journey when traditional maps no longer work for us. In times when nothing seems certain, where can authentic solid ground be found and trusted?

The edge is a place of risk and challenge, always calling us beyond our comfort zone, but it can also be the place of growth and expanding vision, revealing new horizons. During the retreat we will explore what ‘the edge’ means for us, with its hazards and its blessings. We will reflect on how to navigate it by a spiritual compass using tried and tested tools of discernment.

How will we spend the time?

This will be a safe space in which to examine some of our hopes and fears as we walk a path that may feel exposed and risky. Each day there will be two gatherings offering presentations by the retreat leader, and a further gathering for those who wish to share something of their own experience of the edge. There will also be ample opportunity for personal prayer, reflection and re-creation in the beautiful grounds of The Bield.
