"Nothing is more precious

than being in the present moment fully alive and aware.”

                                                                                                                                                                              Thich Nhat Hanh

On this page we quite simply invite you to spend time being still with nature.

The Bield is an extraordinarily beautiful place. Time and again, our guests remark on the healing power of nature. Many who come to the Bield love to wander or sit among the trees, flowers, wild meadow, butterflies, squirrels, insects and gently flowing water that make this place special. In doing so they find peace – within and without.

So much of our lives are about doing. Contemplation is a way of being – being still and being fully present to the moment. When we are still, allowing the mental chatter and input to cease, surprising realisations creep into our awareness. In contemplation, our hearts open to experiencing God and self in new ways.

In Lectio Divina, the final movement is “Contemplatio” – resting in God. We invite you to rest in God. If you can, go outdoors and find a peaceful place to sit. Then just spent time with whatever it is in nature that is drawing your attention. Be with it and allow its presence to be with you.

If you can’t come to visit us, you might like to use one of the videos below,  be present to nature in a similar way.

“Praying”

It doesn’t have to be

the blue iris, it could be

weeds in a vacant lot, or a few

small stones; just

pay attention, then patch

a few words together and don’t try

to make them elaborate, this isn’t

a contest but the doorway

into thanks, and a silence in which

another voice may speak.”
