Seeking a Deputy Cook and Housekeeper

for our busy Charity Retreat Centre

 

Hours of Work:   Tuesday to Friday and alternate weekends plus 3 evenings per fortnight.

 

Average 31.25 hrs per week plus extra hours for holiday cover

​

Rate of Pay: £14 per hour.

 

Due to retirement, we are looking for a deputy cook and housekeeper to join our small friendly team.

 

Much of your time will be spent cooking so you will need experience of preparing simple meals for between 5 and 20 people each day; occasionally more.  We use our own organically grown produce wherever possible.  You will be responsible for complying with the HACCP and keeping the records up to date.  You will need to be confident in dealing with food allergies and a range of dietary requirements.

We serve the food to our guests so you should have a friendly manner and be confident communicating with people.

​

When our Front of House Manager is on leave you will be responsible for supervising the cleaning staff and for stock control, making any necessary orders of food and supplies. 

 

Working hours: 2 week rota

Week 1 Tuesday – Saturday    08.00-14.00

                                 Sunday      07.30-14.00

Week 2  Tuesday – Friday       08.30-14.00 & 15.30-18.30

 

Requirements and skills

  • Elementary Food Hygiene & Safety Certificate

  • Good spoken and written English

  • Experience of cooking for large groups and events

  • SVQ2 in Food Production and Cooking at SCQF level 5 or equivalent

  • Basic computer literacy

  • Some supervisory experience is desirable.
